Chuck E. Cheese's vice president of research and development Joe Elliot said the company has received an overwhelming response from families requesting the addition of gluten-free products to the menu items for kids with special diet needs.
"We listened to their feedback and wanted to provide options that better help everyone enjoy the full flavor of Chuck E. Cheese's," Elliot added.
The new products will be made from rice flour. In order to avoid cross-contamination or accidental exposure to gluten ingredients, the pizza and cupcake products will be manufactured at a gluten-free facility and sent to stores in frozen, pre-sealed packaging.
The products will remain sealed in packages until they are delivered.
Recently, Domino's also announced that it would add gluten-free pizzas to its menu at its 5,000 locations in the US.
