Afimilk to promote dairy farming in Indian state

Core Tip: The Indian state of Punjab has tied up with Israel-based Afimilk company to promote dairy farming in the state. Under the partnership, Afimilk will provide technical support to state's farmers, in order to boost dairy production.
Afimilk offers technical support to dairy farming sector across the world. It also has the world's highest yielding cows with 12,000 liters of milk per cow annually, through intensive use of advanced technology.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said that the government would also establish district-level committees through which farmers, who are interested in setting up dairy farms, can take help.

Each committee will include officers of the district administration, and state's Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department, besides the representatives of progressive dairy farmers, said Badal.

The government is also seeking to set up Dairy Service Centers' (DSCs) equipped with modern machinery to be utilized for the common cause of dairy farms. The machinery for DSCs would be provided by the government at subsidized rates.
