Core Tip: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a health hazard alert, warning consumers not to consume certain vacuum packaged fish products sold by Pusateri's Fine Foods as the products may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum.
Food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum toxin may not look or smell spoiled. However, its consumption may cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, headache, double vision, dry throat, respiratory failure and paralysis. In severe cases of illness, people may die.

The following Pusateri's Fine Foods brand vacuum packaged fish products are affected by this alert - Delicately Smoked Boneless Rainbow Trout; Nanuk Balick Salmon Centre Cut Atlantic Smoked Salmon; and Original Lox Smoked Sockeye Salmon.

These products have been sold only at Pusateri's Fine Foods located at Ontario, Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The retailer, Pusateri's Fine Foods, based in Toronto, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace, while the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
