Waffle is a batter cake with a pattern of deep indentations on each side, formed by the gridlike design on each of the two hinged parts of the metal appliance in which it is baked. Harun Sonone, executive chef, The Resort, will bake the waffles.
Sweet and savoury waffles can be eaten plain (especially the thinner kinds) or sprinkled with powdered castor sugar. Depending on the region of their origin, they may be eaten with various toppings, such as melted butter, chocolate chips, whipped cream, mixed fruit, bananas, strawberries, honey, jam, jelly, peanut butter, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, and flavoured syrup.
