Core Tip: The USA more than doubled the volume of pigmeat exported to China between January and June 2012 compared to the same time last year, according to China Customs GTIS.
The figures show the amount of fresh pork from the USA increased from 62,900t in the first six months of 2011 to 130,200t over the same period in 2012. Although German exports increased from 3,000t to 34,800t, Spain became the largest EU exporter of pigmeat to China, trebling its shipments over the last year rising from 11,800t to 35,000t. However, Denmark continued to see its exports to China fall, down from 49,000t in 2010 to 23,300t in 2012.

Overall fifth quarter imports to China also increased by nearly 10%, with imports from Germany increasing from 2,500t to 20,200t and Spain also seeing a large rise.
