Core Tip: Genius Foods, a UK-based producer of gluten-free baked goods, has partnered with Bako as a part of its plan to foray into the foodservice sector.
Bako, bakery products and ingredients wholesaler, will initially market Genius Foods' products from its site in Preston to high street retailers.

Genius' foodservice portfolio features savory products as well as confectionery and breads under Bako's own label brand. The products will be wrapped individually and can be baked with their packaging intact, reported Bakeryinfo.co.uk.

In June 2012, Genius unveiled its plans to enter into the foodservice sector after a survey revealed that 96% of the people with gluten intolerance do not find suitable foods while eating out. In response, it developed a range of sweet and savory products.

Genius chief executive Roz Cuschieri said that food outlets are losing out on a significant business by not meeting the requirements of the coeliac community and those who choose to avoid eating gluten as a lifestyle choice.

"We hope that the launch of our extended range will make it easier for the food hospitality industry to cater for the requirements of this significant group of consumers," Cuschieri added.
