Core Tip: Malta is set to build a new fish center, in order to boost the country’s fish processing industry. The EUR3m project will be 75% funded by the European Union (EU).
The new center, located in Marsa, will replace an old reverse osmosis facility. It will feature two levels - one level will be allocated for the fish dealers, while the other will be for fish processing, reported Maltatoday.com.mt.

Rural Affairs minister George Pullicino said the contract has been granted after a long tendering process and the location is suitable since it is close to other food processing plants.

"The current fish market does not abide to the EU standards and needs to be replaced," Pullicino added.

Construction of the center is expected to be completed in one and a half years.
