PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia operations head Hendri Saksti said the two wheat flour mills are being built in Gresik in east Java and will have a joint capacity of 1 million tons per year.
The flour mills are expected to go onstream in the third quarter of 2013, reported Reuters.com.
There are about 21 domestic flour millers in Indonesia, with the total installed wheat milling capacity of 7.7 million tons, according to Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association.
Indonesia imports all its wheat, both unprocessed grains and flour, which is largely used to produce noodles, bread, cakes, biscuits and convenience snacks. It imports primarily from Australia, Turkey, Canada, and the US.
