Core Tip: Missa Bay, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ready Pac Foods, is voluntarily recalling 293,488 cases and 296,224 individually distributed units of fruit, vegetable, and sandwich products containing apples as the products may be contaminated with Listeria monoc
The products affected by the recall have use-by dates of 8 July 2012 through 20 August 2012. They were produced and distributed from the Missa Bay facility to retailers and foodservice operators in 36 states in the US.

The apples are sold as slices at restaurants such as Burger King, McDonald's, as well as Wegmans Food Markets and Wawa convenience stores.

This recall has been issued after Listeria monocytogenes was identified on equipment used by Missa Bay to produce apple products. No illnesses have been reported in association with this voluntary recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening food borne illness in a person who consumes a food item contaminated with it. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea.
