The government plans to promote eight kinds of food ingredients, establish four clusters for the bakery sector, and create 20 new brands of bakery products. The move is forecast to raise the output value of the bakery industry by NT$4bn ($133.2m).
In addition, the government plans to upgrade old restaurants, as a part of a plan to preserve Taiwan's traditional cuisine. Foreign chefs will also be invited to help create new dishes, reported Taipei Times.
This project is a part of larger initiative which seeks to improve 50 business categories such as apparel, smart appliances and agritourism, over a five-year period. This initiative is expected to create 25,000 job opportunities and produce an output value of NT$500bn ($16.65bn).
