Core Tip: The Aquaculture Industry Environmental Fund has allocated NOK11.6 million to various initiatives in 57 rivers across the country.
The Aquaculture Industry Environmental Fund has now completed three rounds of funding since its inception in the spring of 2011. There are two grant rounds per year.

A total of 26 projects have received funds for fish and monitoring measures. In addition, funds were allocated to fish trap and radio tagging to identify escaped farmed fish in the rivers.

It has also allocated funds for training and for advances into the use of genetics to track escapees.

"There are many good projects in the best interest of wild salmon, and while it's nice to see that there are reports of a very good fishing season in many salmon rivers," says environmental director Aina Valland in FHL.

The next deadline for the regional and national environmental fund is 1 October 2012.
