Core Tip: US food firm Cascade Specialties plans to set up a new vegetable processing facility in Merced, California, US.
The new plant, which will operate as a part of the company's White Oak Frozen Foods Division, will process locally grown vegetables into Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) Reduced Moisture vegetables and fruits.

The IQF Reduced Moisture process features a continuous drying and freezing technology that leads to high quality reduced moisture frozen vegetables that offer superior product, flavor and texture, the company said.

Cascade Specialties will occupy the former Arvin Sango plant on Cooper Avenue employing 16 full time employees and approximately 40 seasonal employees. This new project will expand White Oak Frozen Foods' handling, processing and warehousing capacity, reported Kmph.com.

Cascade Specialties, based in Oregon, US, is a subsidiary of Indian agriculture company Jain Irrigation Systems, which has presence in about 120 countries.
