Certain READY PAC brand fresh cut Fruit Blends containing Daniella brand mangoes may contain Salmone

Core Tip: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Canada Safeway Ltd. are warning the public not to consume Ready Pac brand fresh cut Fruit Blends described below.
These fruit products contain pieces of Daniella brand mangoes which have been recalled by the US supplier Splendid Products due to potential contamination withh Salmonella Braenderup.

All Best Before date codes of the following Ready Pack brand fruit blends, products of USA, are affected by this alert.

These fruit products were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. However, they may have been distributed in other provinces / territories.

There have been no reported illnesses specifically associated with the consumption of these Ready Pac fruit products. However, there have been several confirmed illnesses in Canada and the USA associated with the consumption of the Daniella brand mangoes.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness. In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections. In otherwise healthy people, salmonellosis may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis. If you think you have illness symptoms related to salmonellosis, please contact your family doctor.

The importer, Canada Safeway Ltd., Calgary, AB is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
