Peru’s agricultural production grew by 3.9% year-on-year in January to July this year, driven in part by strong performance by its livestock sector.
According to the Office of Economic and Statistical Studies (EEO) in the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), the livestock sector grew 4.9% in the first six months of the year, with July figures showing 6.5% year-on-year growth compared to July 2011.
EEO said that poultry, cattle, pork and milk outputs all increased, although egg production decreased by 934 tonnes (-3.5%).
