Texas-based potato producer Pro-Health has announced the launch of scannable technology to boost traceability in healthy potatoes
The company noted that its Pro-Health Russets products will feature a new data matrix codes on the packaging. The code will be present on Kwik Lok plastic bag closures.
By scanning the Kwik Lok's data matrix code with a smartphone, customers will be directed to a landing page on Pro-Health.com that shows the exact field their potatoes were grown in. Each page includes the field's specific location, latitude and longitude along with information about each farm.
The company noted that this technology, similar to a barcode or QR code, helps customers better understand Pro-Health's commitment to provide quality produce and 100% traceability.
Pro-Health President and CEO Brandon Larsen the company puts efforts to maintain the integrity of our products, from the fields to homes all across the country.
"By adding the data matrix codes to the Kwik Loks, we're showing customers the personal touch we put into all of our fresh, healthy potatoes," Larsen added.
