The value of Norwegian seafood exports in September totalled NOK 4.1 billion. This is a reduction of 19 per cent or NOK 969 million compared to the same month last year. This year to date the value of Norwegian seafood exports totals NOK36.3 billion, down by NOK 1.9 billion or five per cent from the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council.
Salmon exports stable
The value of Norwegian Salmon exports in September totalled NOK 2.4 billion. This is on a par with the figures for September last year. For the year to date, the value of Norwegian Salmon exports totals NOK 21.2 billion, down by NOK 481 million or 2.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The average price for fresh whole Norwegian Salmon in September was NOK 26.34 kroner per kg, compared to NOK 26.45 per kg in September 2011. As in the previous month, France and Russia were the biggest importers of Norwegian Salmon.
The value of exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout also remained stable compared to the same month last year, totalling NOK 134 million. This year to date, exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout total NOK 1.2 billion, an increase in value of NOK 218 million compared to the same period in 2011. The biggest importers of Norwegian Fjord Trout are Russia and Japan.
Exports of herring stable, mackerel down
The value of exports of Norwegian Herring in September totalled NOK 167 million, about the same as in September last year. This year to date, the value of exports of Norwegian Herring totals NOK 2.7 billion, up by NOK 95 million or four per cent compared to the same period of 2011. Russia and Germany are the biggest markets for Norwegian Herring.
Exports of mackerel from Norway fell in value in September by NOK 711 million to a total of NOK 287 million. For the year to date, exports of mackerel are down by NOK 376 million to a total of NOK 1.5 billion. Russia and China are the biggest markets for mackerel from Norway.
Exports of clipfish down, salted fish stable
Exports of clipfish fell in value in September by NOK 103 million to a total of NOK 354 million. A breakdown of this figure shows that Norwegian Cod accounted for NOK 184 million and Norwegian Saithe NOK 121 million, with the remainder accounted for by ling, cod and other groundfish. The biggest market for Norwegian Cod clipfish is Portugal, while Brazil is the biggest market for Norwegian Saithe clipfish.
The value of exports of salted fish including fillets in September totalled NOK 37 million, the same as in September last year. Of this amount, Norwegian Cod accounted for NOK 26 million, ling NOK 6 million and Norwegian Saithe NOK 3 million. Portugal is the biggest market for salted fish.
Exports of fresh and frozen Norwegian Cod down in value
September exports of fresh Norwegian Cod including fillets from fishery fell in value by NOK 13 million to a total of NOK 44 million. Exports of frozen Norwegian Cod including fillets in September also fell in value, down by NOK 6 million to a total of NOK 79 million.
