An outbreak of InfectioNorwegian Salmon Farmus Salmon Anaemia (ISA) has been confirmed on a salmon farm in Bø, Nordland.

Of the 659,881 salmon susceptible at the site, 4783 cases were confirmed.

The virus is thought to have spread from a neighbour location.

From an epidemiological point of view, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority considers the ISA outbreak at Skatleia to be a reoccurrence.

During 2013 Infectious Salmon Anaemia (ISA) was present at two different neighbor locations. One of the previous ISA outbreaks was located only few kilometers away from Skatleia.

The mentioned sea sites are operated by the same company. The Norwegian Veterinary Institute is using genotyping to confirm whether ISA outbreaks are an occurrence or a reoccurrence. The virus relating to the recent report will be further characterized associated with the epidemiological studies. This is a follow-up report since ISA at Skatleia is supposed to be spread from neighbor locations.
