US-based Super Store Industries has recalled its Super Duper Peanut Butter Cup ice cream over Salmonella contamination that has been associated with the Sunland peanut butter recall across the US.
According to the 16 October FDA report, the product was sold through Albertsons retail stores in Oregon, Utah, Washington, Idaho and Montana, and Walmart stores in Washington.
No illnesses have been reported yet. FDA has asked consumers who have the recalled products not to eat them and to dispose of them or return them to the store for a full refund.
Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause Salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. The most common manifestations of Salmonellosis are diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days.
