Cherkizovo has opened a second production line at the Otechestvenniy meat processing facility in Pravdinsk, Kaliningrad region, Russia, with an investment of $15m.
The new production line is expected to boost the production capacity of the facility to 1,500 tons per month. The plant manufactures hams and deli products under Cherkizovsky brand.
Cherkizovo CEO Sergey Mikhailov said that in addition to increasing the meat processing capacity for the company, another advantage of the project is the location of the Kaliningrad facility in the free economic zone.
"This contributes to the more effective implementation of products with high added value in Russia," Mikhailov added.
Over the past two years, Cherkizovo Group launched a modernization of the plant and equipped it with modern high-tech equipment manufactured by an Italian companyTravaglini.
Cherkizovo is one of the leading manufacturer of poultry, pork and meat products in Russia.
