William Grant & Sons is to launch three new expressions of The Balvenie single malt Scotch whiskey in duty-free and travel-retail in April 2013.
The Balvenie Triple Cask expressions include 12yo, 16yo and 25yo. Created by malt master David Stewart, all the three expressions have been bottled at 40% ABV and matured in three traditional types of casks - first-fill bourbon, refill bourbon and sherry - in a large wooden vessel known as marrying tun.
The Triple Cask 12yo whiskey is sweet and spicy with tastes of dried fruits, vanilla and cinnamon, while the Triple Cask 16yo whiskey possesses vanilla sweetness taste alongside hints of toffee and gentle oak. The Triple Cask 25yo expression is complex with silky oak and spice taste.
William Grant & Sons global travel retail global marketing manager Ian Taylor told dfnionline.com that this is the first time that a range of The Balvenie has been created exclusively for the travel-retail market and these beautifully presented new releases are sure to catch the eye of malt whisky enthusiasts on their travels.
All the three expressions will be available in airports throughout the world from April 2013.
