The world’s first integrated Lobster Aquaculture Park (iLAP) park in Semporna, Sabah is to start commercial production in the next two years following the completion of its design and planning stage.

The lobster hatchery is expected to produce up to 40 million pounds of tropical Sabah native spiny lobsters when it reaches maximum capacity in 2029, creating more than 14,000 high income jobs by 2022, reports DailyExpress.

The project will use RM2 billion worth of investment to create the world's first fully integrated commercial lobster hatchery.

With a strong lobster market, the new facility will provide opportunities, investment and income for Malaysia.

The project is a joint venture of the Malaysian government, Darden Restaurants and Ever Nexus.
