The government of Nigeria is planning to impose ban on the import of fish products.
The country is now experiencing loses of NGN97m ($0.6m) in foreign exchange on importation, said the Agriculture Minister Akinwumi Adeshina.
The government aims to increase the supply of raw materials for agro industries, offer employment and save foreign exchange through import substitution, boost consumption of local products and increase national food security, reported the africanmanager.com.
The ban is expected to be imposed next year.
