The Great Fish Company has announced its parent company in Chile, Congelados Pacifico, has obtained a three-star best aquaculture practices (BAP) certification for its salmon operation there.

The company is the third in the world to get such a certification, which is given to companies practicing responsible and environmentally-friendly aquaculture operations.

Established in 1998, Great Fish distributes fresh and frozen seafood throughout North America, and operates its own vessel fleet, processing plants, and Chilean salmon farms, which earned the BAP certificate.

“The Great Fish Company is very thankful to the workers and management team for their hard work and vision to obtain this certification,” the company said in a statement. “Additionally, the support from their customers during this process of continuous improvement is greatly appreciated.”
