The grape harvest in Taiaçú, north of São Paulo, was off to a slow start. Now, growers plan to expedite the process in order to have the produce ready for Christmas delivery.

The season, already 3 weeks behind schedule, met with a bad start. Both growth and harvest of the Niágara grape was delayed by frost. Some vineyards in the interior were unable to yield any produce.

Some of the delays were compensated by other vineyards that had experienced more sunlight. Crops coming from these vineyards however, still have to be picked. That’s 60,000 kilo still waiting to be harvested. Growers state they will do what they can to meet the festive deadline.

São Paulo is the third largest producer of grapes in Brazil. The other two are Río Grande do Sul and Pernambuco.
