After long and very demanding price discussions, the Norwegian Fishermen's Sales Organisation and the fishing industry agreed on new minimum prices for cod in the coming season, according to a joint statement from the FHL and the Norwegian Fishermen's Sales Organisation.
"Minimum prices are characterised by a significant increase in the quantity of cod, and that it is a very difficult European market," says managing director of the Norwegian Fishermen's Sales Organisation, Trygve Myrvang.
"Disagreement now would lead to significant market volatility, and be unfortunate for the cod sector," says chief negotiator for the fishing industry FHL Geir Ove Ystmark.
The minimum price for cod is reduced to the following levels:
Cod / cod over 6 kg: 13.25
Cod / cod from 2.5 to 6 kg: 10.50
Cod / cod 1 to 2.5 kg: 9.50
Cod / cod u / 1 kg: 8,
The new minimum prices will apply from Thursday 13/12-2012 to Sunday 21/4-2013.
