The Chennai-based Cupcake Company has opened its first exclusive cupcake store in Bangalore, on what many would say is Food Street in this part of town: the 100 Ft Road in Indiranagar.
Seventeen flavours are baked fresh daily at the in-store kitchen. This includes a range of egg-free cupcakes, a selection of brownies, cheesecakes, banana bread and rainbow cake.
Cupcakes take pride of place, of course. Adorned with signature icings and toppings, and accessorised with drizzles, colourful candy sprinkles, chocolate chips, walnuts, fruits, the range is also eye candy.
With interesting names like Lady in Red (red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing), Tiramisu, (self-explanatory), the Boston Cream Cupcake (vanilla cupcakes with custard filling and chocolate drizzle on top), Chip ‘n Dale (choco-chip cupcakes with chocolate frosting) and what is already, and not too surprisingly, proving a hot favourite, Death By Chocolate (dark chocolate cupcakes with a Nutella centre and choco icing), the store stocks cupcakes that taste as good as they look.
Shitija Nahata, the owner of The Cupcake Company, is actually living out her dream. “I absolutely love cupcakes,” she says. “They are the most satisfying desserts. I started making them purely for the joy of baking and sharing with friends; it just caught on and The Cupcake Company was born. I have three outlets in Chennai, this one in Bangalore is my fourth store and yes, I am looking to take The Cupcake Company to other cities.”
The store offers customised cupcakes for special events like birthdays, baby showers, weddings, corporate events and theme parties.
Shitija’s cupcakes don’t come cheap but then they are created from the finest preservative-free, high-quality ingredients, like real vanilla beans, sweet butter-cream, fresh fruits and rich chocolate.
