India-based milk manufacturer Kutwal Foods has unveiled a new retail format My Urja with the launch of two new retail stores in Dhankawadi and Ganj Peth, Pune, India to sell its Urja brand products.
Urja brand contains several beverage products including processed liquid milk, milk products, soft drinks and packaged drinking water.
Kutwal Foods chairman Prakash Kutwal said that the retail foray is a part of the company's expansion plans.
"Here, we have developed a model considering the taste of a modern Indian and on the lines of a neighbourhood store. We would be looking at setting up a chain of My Urja through franchise model," Kutwal added.
"All the Urja products, including milk, ghee, shrikhand, amrakhand, flavoured milk, paneer, curd, lassi, masala buttermilk, soda, packaged drinking water, cold drinks and fruit drinks would be available under one roof."
The company plans to open 50 retail stores by 31 March 2013, and over 500 stores in Maharashtra state over the next couple of years.
Kutwal has set aside INR 200m ($3.65m) to expand production capacity and promote the brand in the coming two years.
