Japanese ingredients company Ajinomoto has commissioned its new umami seasoning repacking plant in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The facility is located in the Tongi Industrial Area of Dhaka.

Ajinomoto noted that strengthening and increasing the overseas consumer foods business is one of the key principles for the FY2011-2013 Medium-Term Management Plan to make Ajinomoto a genuine global company.

Ajinomoto entered the Bangladesh market in 2003 with operations from its base in Singapore and established Ajinomoto Bangladesh in August 2011 in order to reinforce its footprint in the country. Ajinomoto Bangladesh, since its establishment, has sold its products imported from PT Ajinomoto Indonesia.

With the construction of the new facility, the company has started repacking bulk Aji-No-Moto imported from Thailand into smaller packages. Ajinomoto Bangladesh expects to generate sales of approximately JPY3bn ($33.43m) in 2016.

Ajinomoto is manufacturer of seasonings, processed foods, beverages, amino acids, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
