Core Tip: The Kingdom of Morocco and the Russian Federation signed on Thursday a new fishing partnership agreement.
The Kingdom of Morocco and the Russian Federation signed on Thursday a new fishing partnership agreement.

The deal, the sixth of its kind between the two sides since 1992, has a four-year term and replaces the one which was signed in June, 2010, in Moscow and expired on June 2, 2012.

Today's agreement was signed by Moroccan Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Aziz Akhannouch and Constantine Dikin, the delegate of the Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries to the second edition of Halieutis fishing exhibition, being held in Agadir between February 13 and 17.

It culminates lengthy talks between the two sides over the last year.

Under the agreement a fleet of 10 Russian ships will resume fishing in Moroccan waters against fees for Morocco which were raised by 10 percent in 2011.

The crews of the Russian fishing boats have to include 16 Moroccan sailors and a scientific observer.
