A business owned by the family of Lord Vestey, the Queen’s Master of Horse, supplied horsemeat to the world’s biggest catering company, it emerged last night.
Vestey Foods Group sold minced beef and minced halal beef to Sodexo which contained more than 1 per cent horsemeat, the level set by the Food Standards Agency as an indication of gross negligence or fraud.
Sodexo, which supplies hospitals, schools and the armed forces, announced on February 22 that it was withdrawing all its frozen beef products following the positive tests. The Government had refused demands from MPs to name the meat producer
