Hain Celestial, a US-based natural and organic food manufacturer, has announced its support for the increased transparency in the labeling of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs).
Since 2010, the company has been taking part in the Non-GMO Project, a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products.
Hain Celestial president and chief executive officer Irwin D. Simon said that about 99% of the company's products are made using non-GMO ingredients.
"Our ingredients, products, facilities and co-packers are routinely verified for GMOs, a tenet that differentiates us from the conventional consumer packaged goods companies," added Simon.
In September 2012, the company announced the endorsement of the mandatory labeling of GMO food products in line with the international standards.
Hain Celestial brand portfolio includes Celestial Seasonings, Earth's Best, Sensible Portions, Spectrum, MaraNatha, The Greek Gods, Terra, Garden of Eatin', Arrowhead Mills, Alba Botanica, Europe's Best, New Covent Garden Soup, Johnson's Juice and Cully & Sully.
