Carrefour has announced a major restructuring of its French business, with the changes scheduled to be completed by end-May.
The move will see Eric Bourgeois being given charge of the domestic hypermarkets, which will now be divided into four geographic areas: Ile-de-France, West, South East and North. Carrefour said Sylvain Ferry, Philippe Lartigue, Patrice Lespagnol and Pierre Bertholat will be responsible for these areas, respectively.
Meanwhile, oversight of its supermarkets has been entrusted to Alain Rabec, formerly director of business development and structure for the format. Gérard Dorey retains control of the convenience and cash & carry formats.
Additionally, Carrefour has created three new departments - Merchandise, Supply Chain and Systems; Banking, Services and Projects; and Technical.
The first new department, which will be run by Patrice Zygband, will oversee all of the group’s central buying offices, logistics, information systems, structure and methods, quality and sustainable development, pricing & supplier studies and markets. The BSP department, to be headed by Gauthier Durand Delbecque, will include the Banking and Insurance business, as well as Carrefour Travel, Carrefour Shows, the vehicle rental service, service station network, gift cards and Carrefour Customer Service. And finally, the Technical Department (to be handled by Laurent Bataille) will work on supporting the modernisation of the group's stores.
