Dry edible bean plantings in the United States is expected to drop 14% this year to 1.5 million acres, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2013.
Planted area is expected to be lower than last year in 15 of the 18 States in the dry bean estimating program. In North Dakota, the largest producing State, planted area is expected to decrease by 150,000 acres, or 21% from a year ago.
