Smoothie King Franchises, a US-based smoothie and nutritional lifestyle center, has signed 49 new franchise agreements so far this year as part of expansion across the country.
Majority of the new franchise stores are slated to open by the end of this year.
Smoothie King global CEO Wan Kim said the company's growth in 2013 will drive its development in both new and existing markets.

The smoothie chain plans to add 1,000 new franchised and corporate locations domestically over the next five years.
With more than 500 locations in the US, the brand is offering smoothie franchise opportunities in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, as well as Texas.
International plans include master franchise and corporate expansion in Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, with 50 new international stores in South Korea and 10 in Singapore in 2013.
