Coca-Cola FEMSA, a Mexican Coca-Cola franchise bottler, has merged its operations with Mexico-based beverage firm Grupo Yoli.

Under the transaction, FEMSA owns an additional 10.14% stake in Mexican sugar firm Promotora Industrial Azucarera. It will also start integrating the results of Grupo Yoli as of June 2013.

Coca-Cola FEMSA chief executive officer Carlos Salazar Lomelín said that this move will enable the company to have access to single-serve and sparkling beverage mix categories to its existing franchise in Mexico.

"In addition, through this transaction, we increase our stake in PIASA to more than 37 percent," Salazar added.

"Going forward, our joint operation will certainly benefit from the potential synergies that our teams have identified."

Coca-Cola FEMSA produces and distributes Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Del Valle and other beverages of The Coca-Cola in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and other nations.
