US-based snack food manufacturer LesserEvil Healthy Brands has opened a new production plant at Danbury, Connecticut.

The new manufacturing facility will create 13 new jobs, with more openings expected in the future.

Commenting on the development LesserEvil CEO Charles Coristine said that the new facility will house several new jobs for the residents.

"We also work with local charities and event coordinators by donating our time and products to their cause," Coristine added.

LesserEvil noted that the organic popcorn waste generated from the facility will be donated to local farms to provide food for the pigs.

Meanwhile, the company has outlined plans to introduce three new lines including Wow Pop - a popcorn for kids, Super 4 - a superfoods snack, and Salad Bites - a line of salad toppings. In recent months, LesserEvil launched a new popcorn line Chia Pop.

LesserEvil Healthy Brands, founded in 2004, manufactures snacks without trans fats, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors, high fructose syrup and gluten ingredients. The company's product range includes Krinkle Sticks, Kettlecorn and Chia Pop.
