A suspected food poisoning recently sickened 51 children at the privately-owned Chunfeng Kindergarten in Yunyan District of Guiyang, the capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, according to local authorities.
“The owner of the kindergarten has been held by police along with other relevant personnel,” the district's publicity authorities said. Investigation is underway for the cause of the incident.
“The 51 children were immediately sent to the People's Hospital of Guizhou Province in the city after they developed such symptoms as dizziness or vomiting,” the publicity authorities said.
Of the total, 46 children have since been discharged from hospital, while the remaining are still undergoing treatment in hospital. Medical workers from the People's Hospital said the five children who remained hospitalised are in a stable condition.
