Target Corp. plans to sell fresh and packaged foods certified as produced in Quebec at all its stores in the province.

The retailer will offer frozen foods, dairy products, perishables, baked goods, bread, snacks and beverages under the Aliments du Québec and Aliments préparés au Québec labels.

Aliments du Québec certifies fresh foods made from at least 85% ingredients sourced from Quebec, while Aliments préparés au Québec designates products that are entirely processed and packaged in the province.

“Target is excited to participate in the Aliments du Québec program. We realize how important it is for Quebecers to be able to easily identify local food products when shopping,” John Morioka, senior vice-president, merchandising, Target Canada, said in a statement. “This initiative is a good example of our commitment to being part of the communities in which we do business.”

Target is on track to open 25 stores across Quebec this fall.
