The Balvenie Distillery, a Scotland-based single malt Scotch whiskey distillery owned by William Grant & Sons, is to unveil the eight batch of its single malt Scotch whiskey - The Balvnie Tun 1401 - at The Balvenie Whisky Fete in London.
The event is scheduled to take place at Tavistock Square on 13-15 June 2013.
Created by The Balvenie Distillery malt master David Stewart, who used nine traditional American oak casks and three European oak sherry butts to marry the whiskey for several months before being bottled at 50.2% ABV, the Batch 8 features hints of brown sugar, vanilla and toasted spice on the nose with tastes of fruit, cinnamon, ginger and maple syrup.
The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 8 will be available for purchase from UK distributor First Drinks at a recommended retail price of £200.
First Drinks brand manager Jonathan Cornthwaite said The Balvenie Whisky Fete will be a special experience for consumers who love single malt whiskey.
"The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 8 is a fine expression of the artistry employed by malt master, David Stewart and the traditional techniques used at the distillery to make high-class single malt Scotch whisky," Cornthwaite added.
