William Grant & Sons, owner of The Balvenie Distillery, has made the limited edition Balvenie 50yo single malt Scotch whiskey available in Canada.
The Balevnie Fifty was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Balvenie malt master David Stewart. It was distilled in 1962 and was allowed to mature in European oak sherry hogshead.
The 50 years of maturation has provided the single malt Scotch whiskey with sweet citrus notes, hints of honey, spice and oak, fragrant and floral smell and velvety finish.
The 44.1% ABV Balvenie Fifty is presented in a hand blown glass bottle that is surrounded by a wooden case, created by Scottish craftsman Sam Chinnery.
With only 88 bottles available worldwide, the company has released only one bottle for sale in Vancouver, Canada with a price tag of $35,000.
