Anheuser-Busch (A-B) is bringing Bud Light Platinum in reclosable aluminum bottles to cold vaults in the Las Vegas market later this month, making it the first beer to be made available in A-B's new reclosable aluminum bottle.
The new 11.5-ounce bottle will roll out nationally later this year, according to a company release.
"We handpicked Bud Light Platinum to launch our company's first reclosable aluminum bottle because of our confidence in the beer," said Rob McCarthy, vice president of Bud Light. "Platinum has been able to elevate the premium light beer category with its blend of image and flavor, and we believe it will do the same for the perception of aluminum bottles."
The design of the Bud Light Platinum reclosable aluminum bottle, which features a twist-off cap, provides for a tool-less opening. The bottle is also more than 50 percent stronger than a standard aluminum can and helps the beer get colder faster, according to the brewer.
"The new reclosable bottle continues our long tradition of innovative packaging that delivers the freshest, coldest, best-tasting beer possible," added Pat McGauley, vice president of innovation for Anheuser-Busch.
The Bud Light Platinum reclosable aluminum bottle will first be available at Las Vegas-area retail stores in 10-packs. Bud Light Platinum will also become available in 12-ounce glass bottles, 22-ounce single-serve bottles and the 12-ounce sleek can, which launched nationally this January.
Bud Light Platinum made its debut in January 2012 in Texas. It was recently named one of the top-selling consumer packaged goods brands of 2012 by Information Resources Inc., as CSNews Online previously reported.
