Crown Holdings, a US-based supplier of metal packaging products, has commercialized two new Southeast Asian beverage can manufacturing facilities in Nong Khae, Thailand and Da Nang, Vietnam.
The Nong Khae facility, which has an estimated capacity of 500 million two-piece 33cl aluminum cans per annum, will begin production on one line starting this month.
However, the Da Nang plant began production in early May 2013, with one can line in operation and an initial production capacity of 720 million 33cl cans.
This facility is the company's fourth beverage can plant in Vietnam. Crown also operates one facility in Hanoi and two in Ho Chi Minh City.
Crown Asia Pacific South East Asia beverage cans vice-president Frank Koh said that the company has seen an increasing demand for beverages packaged in aluminum cans in Thailand.
"In response to that, our new plant will also have the ability to produce 50 cl beverage cans and 33 cl sleek cans," Koh added.
"This is the first time Crown will be producing the sleek format in Asia, and it is part of Crown's strategy to offer more options for both local and regional customers who are looking to refresh their packaging mix."
