Cafe Coffee Day, a division of India-based Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company, plans to open 500 outlets in India by 2015 as part of a strategy to expand its presence in the country.
The pan-India expansion program will allow the company to boost the number of company-owned outlets to 2,000 across the nation from the current 1,497.
The coffee chain plans to establish these outlets in three formats - cafe, lounge and square.
CCD marketing president Ramakrishnan K said that the company will reach to about 400 cities with this expansion, which currently has presence in 200 cities.
"We will take total number of our outlets to 2,000 by 2015. Majority will be in the cafe format and we will also look at opening some outlets in lounge and square formats too," Ramakrishnan added.
CCD beverage innovation senior manager Rhicha Sinha said that the company also plans to expand its coffee and non-coffee beverage line.
The coffee chain has opened its third square format outlet at Connaught Place in New Delhi on 27 June 2013.
