Flagship Food has acquired certain assets of ZD Bottling, a producer of sauces and salsas based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, US.
ZD Bottling, which caters to food service and retail accounts, produces the 505 Southwestern line of all natural, gluten-free salsas, green chile sauce, and other products.
With the acquisition, Flagship gains ownership of the ZD Bottling's sauce facility in Albuquerque.
Flagship CEO Rob Holland said, "After a long and beneficial relationship with ZD Bottling as a supplier, we are thrilled to be bringing the business into the Flagship family so that we can extend our capabilities in sauces, soups, and salsas for all of our customers."
ZD Bottling founder Roy Solomon said that Flagship has improved the 505 brand since the company purchased it several years ago.
"They've grown sales exponentially, but they've stayed true to our core values of quality and healthy products. I know they will continue to do good things for the people of ZD and the Albuquerque community," Solomon added.
Flagship had invested in the 505 line, helping to drive double-digit growth in the brand over the past few years. Earlier this year, the company launched two new products, a Fiesta Sauce, and the 505 Southwestern All American Salsa, benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.
Two new 505 products are slated for launch in late 2013, including a Chipotle Honey Salsa. The product combines the company's tried and true salsa with one of its fasting growing products, Chipotle Honey Green Chile Sauce.
