DIANA has announced the acquisition of Confoco SA in Ecuador. As part of its growth and development strategy on its key markets, the acquisition of Confoco SA allows DIANA to strengthen its Baby Food offer in tropical fruits based solutions.
Founded in 1962, Confoco SA is specialized in the manufacturing of flakes, powders and purees from tropical fruits or vegetables such as banana, pineapple, mango and pumpkin, on its production site based in Pasaje, Ecuador.
In 2012, the company generated a turnover of $13 million including sales to the North American market through its US distribution entity Confoco USA which has been included in the transaction.
Over several years, the Food Division of DIANA has developed a comprehensive and innovative offer for dry and wet applications targeting babies and young children: DIANA BABY. This offer proposes evolutive solutions based on a natural and clean label range of fruit, vegetable, meat and fish products. It combines the highest quality standards and strict control of raw materials with production in both hemispheres and full traceability from the field to customer delivery.
With a wide range of technologies (juice concentrates, powders, flakes, granules, Crunchies, Crispies and Softy’Chunks), DIANA BABY provides specific solutions for every step of the young child’s growth, from 4 months up to 4 years old.
“This acquisition brings the Food Division of DIANA an industrial presence and key raw material sourcing in Ecuador. This operation represents an excellent development and growth opportunity, in particular thanks to the complementary expertises of Confoco’s sourcing control and Diana’s leadership position in Baby Food”, says Jean-Yves Parisot, president of the Food Division of DIANA.
