AIDP is launching Gabiotein, a proprietary sprouted brown rice protein, and Magtein, a patented research-based ingredient for cognitive health.

The company says that its Gabiotein Sprouted Brown Rice Protein is ideal for today’s food market in that it addresses numerous issues: continually rising costs of other protein sources, a growing vegan market, and growing awareness of whey, soy protein, and other foods that lead to allergies and sensitivities. Sprouting enhances nutritional benefits, according to AIDP, such as providing a complete protein source, as well as other benefits over conventional rice protein.

Rice protein has, said the company, been shown to have similar muscle-building capabilities as whey protein. AIDP claims that Gabiotein is superior for a number of reasons. These include product quality - Gabiotein sprouted brown rice protein is said to look, feel, and taste better than other leading rice proteins in the market, due to a unique processing design. Seed germination, or sprouting, leads to beneficial nutritional changes, providing a “perfect protein” profile as it contains all nine essential amino acids.

Taste and texture is also claimed to be superior: Gabiotein is described as having a smooth texture, neutral taste, neutral colour, and neutral smell, resulting in finished products that don’t exhibit any taste or texture changes. It is, says the company, ideal for bars, beverages, cereals, and sweet and savoury snacks.

According to AIDP, Gabiotein stays suspended in liquid longer than other rice proteins. It is claimed to be allergen free, and the company says that it is price competitive at a time when other protein prices are rising.

Also being launched is Magtein (magnesium l-threonate), an ingredient for cognitive and brain health, featuring what AIDP says is the only magnesium form on the market that effectively crosses the blood brain barrier to improve the brain neuron density. It is claimed to be ideal for people with anxiety and stress, and effective for relaxation and sleep. Magtein is self-affirmed GRAS, completely soluble in water, odourless, colourless and tasteless. It is also non-GMO certified.

“We’ve had great success in the supplement market, and feel that our ingredients have tremendous potential in the food industry,” said Kathy Lund, vice president of marketing and business development.
