Loblaw last week opened the first location of its new Provigo Le Marché banner, a small-box format focused on local products, specialty items and fresh merchandising.
The 13,000-square-foot store offers an expanded range of Québec products, including hundreds of fresh and shelf-stable products from Eastern Townships growers and food businesses, Loblaws said.
The store also offers specialty fresh products, including beef aged in-store, smoked meat prepared in-store, bagels baked on the premises, a sushi bar, and 12-foot high “wall of cheese” featuring more than 300 Québec cheeses. The store also boasts “the largest selection of Québec craft beers and ciders offered in a supermarket anywhere in the province.”
The newly built store is the first of at least seven Provigo Le Marché stores expected to open, Loblaw said. Six additional locations will be conversions of existing Loblaws stores.
