Canadian Agricultural cooperative Agropur has entered into an agreement to acquire Coast Mountain Dairy, an ice cream producer based in British Columbia, Canada, for an undisclosed amount.
Coast Mountain Dairy is a manufacturer of ice cream since 1997. The company offers its products under the Sara's Old Fashioned premium ice cream, Mountain Pride premium line of ice creams and Arctic Star, the economy line of ice cream and frozen desserts.
Agropur CEO Robert Coallier said that Coast Mountain Dairy is a well-known ice cream producer in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
"The acquisition sees us add quality frozen products to our Island Farms selection, as well as continue to offer clients locally produced superior ice cream products and expand Agropur's offering in this sector of activities in British-Columbia," Coallier added.
Established in 1938, Agropur is a leading dairy firm in North America with annual sales of $3.8bn. The cooperative processes more than 3.3 billion liters of milk per year at its 28 plants across Canada and the US.
The company offers its products under Natrel, Québon, OKA, Farmers, Central Dairies, Sealtest, Island Farms, Agropur Grand Cheddar, Olympic and iögo brands.
