Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd. enjoyed a 95.7 percent year-on-year increase in its group net profit for January-June, the company said Tuesday.
The profit totaled ¥11.991 billion, Suntory Beverage & Food said in its first earnings announcement since its debut on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on July 3.
For the first half of the business year to December, group operating profit jumped 25.9 percent to ¥27.623 billion on consolidated sales of ¥517.969 billion, up 10.8 percent, it said.
The brisk earnings reflect larger beverage sales in Japan and abroad and lower production and distribution costs, company officials said.
Suntory Beverage & Food President Nobuhiro Torii said at a press conference that although his company has many hurdles to clear, he was able to announce the earnings results with a smile.
He also expressed eagerness to strengthen its operations in other parts of Asia further, saying the Asian business is promising.
