Dairy Farmers of America, a national dairy marketing cooperative, has acquired Dairy Maid Dairy, a Frederick, Md.-based processor of milk, juice and fruit drinks. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
With distribution in major grocery chains, schools and government institutions, the addition of Dairy Maid expands Dairy Farmers of America’s footprint in the fluid and fresh dairy category.
Family-owned and -operated since 1946, Dairy Maid will continue its operations without changes to its employment or milk procurement.
“We are pleased to be able to become part of the D.F.A. family,” said Jimmy Vona, co-owner of Dairy Maid. “D.F.A. shares many of the same values that my family does. This transaction ensures the business we have built over the past four decades will continue to thrive in the future.”
